Corolla is a tiny coastal town (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of North Carolina. With a population of 623 people and just one neighborhood, Corolla is the 479th largest community in North Carolina.
Corolla home prices are not only among the most expensive in North Carolina, but Corolla real estate also consistently ranks among the most expensive in America.
Occupations and Workforce
Unlike some towns, Corolla isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in Corolla are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Corolla is a town of sales and office workers, service providers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Corolla who work in sales jobs (17.56%), office and administrative support (14.45%), and maintenance occupations (10.20%).
One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 7.56% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Setting & Lifestyle
Another notable thing is that Corolla is an extremely popular vacation destination. A significant portion of the population is seasonal. During the vacation season, the town experiences a large influx of people who take up residence in second homes they own in the area. As the vacation season ends, the population drops again, leaving behind a substantially quieter and smaller town.
Residents will find that the town is relatively quiet. This is because it is not over-populated, and it has fewer college students, renters, and young children – all of whom can be noisy at times. So, if you’re looking for a relatively peaceful place to live, Corolla is worth considering.
